Your Discount Patek Philippe Watch
Many companies talk about their values but at Patek Philippe they talk about their watches as keepsakes or
heirlooms. All of their watches are made in limited quantities ranging from 5 to a few hundred. Service and design
is personal as well as the reasons for purchasing one of their watches. There is a story behind every watch sold
and this will be handed down from generation to generation. Plus, if your older generation watch needs repair, they
have the tools and staff to fix it or recreate the part.
The new 2009 collection includes many models. A nice feature that I found at their website is the “Watch
Finder”. I check the options that I am looking for such as gender, theme, material, size, movements, and
complications (features) then click search. I am instantly given a short list of the watches that would appeal to
me. In my case, the Complications and Grand Complications collections were presented to me. I must say that I was
very happy with the selection. It was definitely the style and taste that I would wear.
The Complication watch, ref. #5396K, is a round watch with a double aperture display that was “old fashion” in
style or I should say “traditional”. It had all the features I chose: auto-winding (Who wants to wind a watch
nowadays?), annual calendar, day, date, and month indicators, moon phases and am/pm indicators, a second hand, and
it’s water resistant to 30 meters. It comes in white or rose gold but I prefer the rose gold. It is definitely a
classy watch with a touch of old school. Not sure if the next generation would appreciate it.
The Grand Complication watch, ref. #5013G, which resulted in my search, was is in a “tonneau” case which is like
a square but the sides have rounded curves while the top and bottom is straight. It has many of the same features
as the Complication watch with the exception of the water resistance. This model is only dust and humidity
protected. I guess I will need to remove this before entering the water. But wait, there’s more…this model has a
chime with two gongs.
The company boasts, on their website, about their independence giving them the ability to remain with tradition
and I feel that they have been very successful in doing so. All of their models include the complications that most
other brands carry but at Patek Philippe they kept the styles simple and traditional; a combination of past and
present.
