Your Discount Breitling Watch
Breitling equals functionality, precision, and ruggedness. If you don’t have the opportunity to take a tour of
their facility then just go to their website. It is very impressive to see how these timepieces are designed and
assembled. They state their reputation on the above. Functionality is defined as the user friendliness of the
watch.
They claim that all of their models are certified as chronometers under Swiss standards. This means that the
precision aspect must meet certain standards during a two week test combining movement and temperature extremes.
They claim that the accuracy is that of 15 seconds per year. They attribute this precision to a technology they
call “super quartz”, an added device that regulates the temperature much like a thermostat. Quartz can fluctuate in
accuracy due to temperature changes. Super quartz maintains the temperature in order to increase precision.
Lastly, ruggedness or du rability is tested. They claim it is tested up to 35 tons. Why 35 tons? I do not know.
Even an F-16 does not weigh 35 tons. I must say that it is very impressive to watch how Breitling’s are
manufactured; it makes you want to run out and buy one.
My favorites among the 2009 collections are the Chrono-matic QP and the Aerospace models. I like a watch that
does more than just tell time. I like the additional features that these models offer. Breitling also has different
dials (colors) for some of its models. This is a big plus for those that are looking for a particular model but in
a different color.
The Chrono-matic QP has a perpetual calendar that tells date, day, week, month, season, and moon phases and
takes in to account leap years. Ok, maybe this is a bit much information for most people but think of it as an ice
breaker. This watch also sports a circular slide rule. Breitling originally introduced this feature on their
Navitimer watc h back in 1952. For those that are not pilots, this feature is atmospherically over your heads but
it is nice to know that this watch is selfwinding.
The Aerospace model, in it’s titanium case, has many neat features: countdown timer, 2nd time zone, alarm and
audible time indication all of which are controlled by the crown. But wait, there is more…It also has backlighting
and operates in both analog and digital.
Breitling has many collections and styles to choose from, enough to have your head spinning in the clouds and
nose diving into your pockets to buy one of these. It is a great watch as well as a great looking watch. It is
would be hard to resist one of these.
